Set up for success
When we began working on this project, we started from square one. First, we worked with Laura to determine what kind of online presence made sense for her brand new organization. From there, we planned out a website that would easily communicate her message in as few pages as possible. Like many non-profits, the budget for a website was tight. We provided an inexpensive solution.
Pepper in some flavor
Often times, with a simple website, it can be difficult to make it pop. These were our solutions:
The rainbow. We used multiple colors to distinguish between sections, as well as appeal to one main audience — teachers.- Giant buttons on the homepage direct visitors where to go (they’re also quite colorful)
- Reusing elements from the logo in other areas throughout the site
Sections, lists & bullet points
We have the attention span of a 2-year-old. We just won’t read long paragraphs of text. When Laura handed over the site copy, we helped her break it apart into logical sections and bulleted & numbered lists. Some might call it information architecture. We call it a no-brainer.
Email addresses for everybody
Gmail is great, but yourname@gmail.com on your business card is not.
We set up Laura’s email @scienceoverdrive.org. She can also add up to 49 additional email addresses for her Board of Directors, and all her future employees*. Each new email address comes with a web-based calendar and online document sharing & collaboration.
* If you’d prefer, we’ll handle your company’s email setup for you — the initial & all future accounts (up to 50).
